Here is the bike taken apart. Many thanks to my brother Mike for his tools and help in preparing to undertake this project. A pair of Channel-Locks, small crescent wrench, flathead screwdriver and chain link remover were the primary tools needed.

This was the bike on its rough initial rebuild sans fenders. It is Sky Blue with handbrakes and a 5 speed *Stik-Shift.   I aim to keep as many original parts as possible. I have the front and rear lights but I am not going to put them on for reasons such as weight, practicality and usage. I do not have the saddle bag or pump but I don't plan on trying to find replacements. I have reused a chain from another bike and purchased new tires, otherwise it uses all of the genuine parts.

And so it begins. First and foremost, many thanks to the greater cyberspace community for tips, hints and information. Sheldon Brown (R.I.P.) and his cohorts as well as bikeforums.net have been crucial in preparing to undertake this restoration. This will be a maiden voyage in the realm of Chicago Schwinn restoration but I look forward to sharing one of my hobbies with the internet.
